Roman Text

2. Kaisee thakalee baapudee, dambh vishayaanche saakadee

Translation
1. In this abhang Tukaram Maharaj is emphasizing that too much stress on other rituals or studies of scriptures is not going to be of much use, if you don't really love God and worship him with all this heart and with all your soul.
2. Those who are learned pundits of scriptures are always engaged in the complex web of do’s and don’ts. Those who are very intelligent are always entangled in debates. Just see how these poor people have been received by their own pride and too much attachment to subjects of senses.
3. During processing of the harvest when you are separating the grain from the husk, if you reject the grain (instead of rejecting the husk) and try to search for grain in the husk, what will be the use? The grain is already gone and husky is of no use.
4. If you have already removed butter from buttermilk, then will there be any use of going on churning the buttermilk to find butter in it? (Meaning you must first get the essential thing in spirituality, you must first establish a relationship of close love with God and only then there will be use of studying scriptures or trying to engage in debate).
