Tukaram Gatha Abhanga 29

आहे तें सकळ कृष्णासी अर्पण | न कळतां मन दुजें भावी ।।१।। 
म्हणऊनि पाठी लागतील भूतें | येती गिवसीत पांचजणें ।।२।।
ज्याचें त्या वंचालें आठव न होतां | दंड हा निमित्तकारणें हा ।।३।।
तुका म्हणे काळे चेंपियेला गळा | मी मी वेळोवेळा करीतसे ।।४।।

English

1. Aahe te sakal Krushnashi arpan, na kalataa man duje bhavee
2. Mhanaunee paathi lagteel bhute, yetee givasit panchajane
3. Jyache tyaa vanchale aathav na hotaa, dand yaa nimittaakarane haa
4. Tukaa mhane kaale chepiyalaa galaa, mee mee velovela karitase

Translation

This abhanga is about the ignorance in a person. Due to ignorance, the soul gets the ego, and the ownership of the body made up of five elements (earth, water, fire, air and space). This is the punishment for his ignorance.

1. Whatever acts that are taking place by us are all being performed under the authority of Lord Krishna and are being surrendered to Him. Those who don't understand this, develop a feeling (typical of a state of Duality) that they are the doers.
2. As a result, they are chased by the five elements (earth, water, fire, air and space) and are brought to birth by giving them a body form of these five elements.
3. As a result of forgetting that all the karmas (acts) are taking place by inspiration from the Lord Hari and are be surrendered to him, the soul is subjected to the punishment of frequent cycles of birth and death.
4. Tuka says, the demon of ‘death’ is continuously throttling the neck of this person, immersed in bodily pleasures resulting from body consciousness. Still he keeps saying 'I' and 'mine' again and again.
