Tukaram Gatha Abhanga 49

एकादशी व्रत सोमवार न करिती | कोण त्यांची गत होईल नेणों  ।।१।।
काय करुं  बहु वाटे तळमळ | अंधळीं सकळ बहिर्मुख ।।२।।
हरिहरासी नाहीं बोटभरी वाती | कोण त्यांची गति होईल नेणों ।।३।।
तुका म्हणे नाहीं नारायणी प्रीति | कोण त्यांची गति होईल नेणों ।।४।। 

English

1. Ekadashee vrat somvaar na karitee, kon tyachee gat hoil neno
2. Kay karu bahu vaate talmal, andhalee sakal bahirmukh
3. Hariharasee nahee botbharee vatee, kon tyachee gatee hoil neno
4. Tuka mhane nahee Narayanee preeti, kon tyanchee gatee hoil neno

Translation

There is a tradition of fasting on the days of Ekadashi (11th day of the lunar calendar of 15 days) as an expression of devotion to Lord Vishnu and on Mondays, as an expression of devotion to Lord Vishnu, two manifestations of the one God. In this abhanga, saint Tukaram is advising people to observe these fasts for their own spiritual progress.

1. I don't know what will be the fate of those who don't observe fasts Ekadashis or Mondays.
2. What shall I do? My heart goes out in sympathy for them, because they have become blind as a result of their excessive attachment to the external world.
3. There are people who don't worship Lord Hari or Lord shiva, even with as little as lighting a lamp with a small wick. I don't know what will be their fate after death.
4. Tuka says, what will be the fate of those who don't have love for God (Lord Narayana).
