Translation
This abhanga is about the unity of God and the illusory material world.
  1. The Brahman (The Supreme Intelligence beyond all the vibrations of manifestations of the Universe, The God) is maya (the illusion in the form of the world), the maya is Brahman.
This is like the unity of body and its shadow.
  2. A shadow cannot be cut away from the body with a weapon, nor can it be separated from the body by pushing it aside with your hand. However, when you lie down flat the ground, it becomes one with the body.
  3. The shadow is not a separate, independent thing. So, why should try and make a great effort to destroy it or waste time in trying to prove its separate existence?
  4. Tuka says, the shadow always follows us in whatever we do. If we become tall, it becomes tall and if we bend, it also bends. So, just like the unity of the body and the shadow, there is unity of God and His illusory material world (God has manifested Himself, in the, disguised form of this illusory material world).
