चित्त समाधान । तरी विष वाटे सोनें ।।१।।
बहू खोटा अतिशय । जाणा भले सांगों काय ।।२।।
मनाचे तळमळें । चंदनेंही अंग पोळे ।।३।।
तुका म्हणे दुजा । उपचार पीडा पूजा ।।४।।

English
- Chitta samadhan, taree vish vaate sone
- Bahu khotaa atishay, janaa bhale sango kaay
- Manaache talmale, chandanehee anga pole
- Tukaa mhane dujaa, upachaar pidaa pooja
Translation
In this abhanga, Saint Tukaram is explaining how unrest in mind leads to misery.
- If the heart is not contented, even golden joys will appear like a poison.
- Excess of anything is not good (misleads you away from truth). I don't need to tell you that.
- If the mind is agitated, even anointing the body with sandalwood paste will cause a burning sensation instead of cooling.
- Tuka says, this kind of mind will suffer from pain even if you try any other treatments for cooling.
