Tukaram Gatha Abhanga 32

मज दास करीं त्याचा । संत दासाच्या दासाचा ।।१।।
मग होत कल्पवरी । सुखें गर्भवास हरी ।।२।।
नीचवृत्तिकाम । परी मुखीं तुझें नाम ।।३।।
तुका म्हणे सेवे । माझे संकल्प वेंचावे ।।४।।  

English

1. Maj daas karee tyachaa, santdasachya dasachaa
2. Mag hot kalpavaree, sukhe garbhavaas Hari
3. Neechavruttikam, paree mukhee tuze naam
4. Tukaa mhane seve, maaze sankalp vechaave

Translation

This abhanga is about greatness of saints and the importance of chanting God's name.

1. Make me a servant of the servant of a saint's servant.
2. Then, it will be OK even if I have to keep coming into a womb (and face the discomfort) and be born again and again till the end of this Kalpa*.
3. It will be OK even if I have to do menial jobs, but bless me that I should remain chanting your name all the time.
4. In everything that I plan or do, I would always like to be serving you. Bless me that that should be my only desire.

*Kalpa: One Brahma's day is one Kalpa made up of one thousand Yugas or periods. One night of Brahma is one Kalpa made up of one thousand Yugas or periods. Therefore, there are two thousand Yugas in one Brahma's day and night. In earthly terms, these two thousand Yugas are 8,640,000,000 years long (8.64 billion man-years.) There are four kinds of Yugas: Krta or Satya, Treta, Dvāpara, and Kali. According to Srimad Bhagavatam Book three, Krita Yuga had the highest Dharma (righteousness), which diminished progressively by a quarter in the subsequent Yugas with proportional increase in Adharma (unrighteousness).
