  1. Parimal mhanunee choloo naye phool, khau naye mul aavadate
  2. Motiyaache paani chaakhu naye swaad, yantra bheduni naad paahu naye
  3. Karmaphal mhanoni ichhu naye kaam, Tukaa mhane varma daau lokaa

Translation
In this abhanga, Saint Tukaram is giving a message that we should not misuse a good thing.
  1. A flower has nice fragrance. We should not crush it (just to smell the fragrance). We should not eat up a child simply because it is our most beloved child.
(Message is, we don't have to damage something to enjoy its beauty or loveliness).
  2. Is it not possible to nourish a child while staying at a distance from him? (Without disturbing him).
(There is a belief that a mother tortoise is able to nourish her hatchlings just by looking at them from a distance).
  3. Just because a pearl is shining and beautiful, we should not go for tasting it by our tongue. We should not break an instrument producing sweet music, in order to check how it makes that sound. Tuka says, similarly, although the fruits of a good deed are sweet, we should not do such good deeds with a desire for the fruits.
