Tukaram Gatha Abhanga 47

नव्हे आराणूक संसारा हातीं । सर्व काळ चित्तीं हाचि धंदा ।।१।।
देवधर्म सांदीं पडिले सकळ । विषयीं गोंधळ गाजतसे ।।२।।
रात्री दिस न पुरे कुटुंबाचे समाधान । दुर्लभ दर्शन ईश्वराचे ।।३।।
तुका म्हणे आत्महत्यारे घातकी । थोर होते चुकी नारायणी ।।४।। 

English

1. Navhe aaraanuk sansaaraa haatee, sarv kaal chittee haachi dhandaa
2. Devadharm sandee padile sakal, vishayee gondhal gajatase
3. Ratree dis na pure kutumbaache samadhan, durlabh darshan Ishwarache
4. Tuka mhane aatmahatyare ghatakee, thor hote chukee Narayanee

Translation

In this abhanga, saint Tukaram explains the mistake made by a man who is deeply immersed in his family and business.

1. A man who is engrossed only in his family (and does not think about God) will never be satisfied, because his mind is constantly occupied with his worldly business matters.
2. He completely ignores God, Worship and religion. His mind is in a chaotic state due to preoccupation with sensual pleasures.
3. He finds the entire day too short, for worrying about how he should satisfy his family members. But in that process, it becomes very difficult for him to even look at God (just bow down to God).
4. Tuka says, such people are committing a suicide. They are making a blunder by not offering devotion to God.
