Tukaram Gatha Abhanga 50

आहाकटा त्याचे करिती पितर । वंशीं दुराचार पुत्र जाला ।।१।।
गळेचि ना गर्भ नव्हेचि कां वांज । माता त्याची लाजलांवा पापी ।।२।।
परपीडें परद्वारीं सावधान । सादरचि मन अभाग्याचें ।।३।।
न मिळतां निंदा चाहडी उपवास । संग्रहाचे दोष सकळही ।।४।।
परउपकार पुण्य त्या वावडें । विषाचें तें कीडें दुग्धीं मरे ।।५।।

तुका म्हणे विटाळाचीच तो मूर्ति । दया क्षमा शांति नातळे त्या ।।६।।

English

1. Aahaakata tyaache karitee pitar, vanshi durachar putra jaala
2. Galechi naa garbha navhechi kaa vanj, mataa tyachee lajalavaa paapi
3. Parapeede pardvaree savadhan, saadarachi man abhagyache
4. Na milataa nindaa chahadee uapavaas, sangrahache dosha sakalhee
5. Paraupakaar punya tya vaavade, vishaache te keede dugdhee mare
6. Tuka mhne vitalacheech to murti, dayaa kshamaa shanti naatale tya

Translation

Saint Tukaram is describing a person who is sinful that he brings Shame to his mother.

1. He is so much laden with vices that even his ancestors in the astral world are grieved and are crying out, "Oh God, why such an immoral person has taken birth in our clan"?
2. Looking at the mother of this sinner who has brought disgrace to his clan, people are saying, "Why didn't she suffer an abortion before his birth or why didn't she remain a barren woman?
3. This unfortunate man is ever eager to trouble others and to have sex with other people's women.
4. He suffers as if he fasting, if he doesn't get a chance to defame someone or doesn't indulge in back biting on any day. He is all out gather all possible vices.
5. He just can't tolerate the idea of obliging someone or doing some virtuous work. He is like the germs which will thrive in poison and die in milk.
6. Tuka says, he is an idol of defilement. Virtues like mercy, person or leave will never even touch him.
