दुजे खंडे तरी | उरला तो अवघा हरि, आपणाबाहेरी | न लगे ठाव धुंडावा ॥१॥
इतुलेँ जाणावया जाणा | कोड तरी मनेँ मना | पारधीच्या खुणा | जाणतेणेँचि साधाव्या ॥२॥
देह आधी काय खरा | देहसंबंधपसारा | बुजगावणेँ चोरा | रक्षणसे भासतेँ ॥३॥
तुका करी जागा | नको वासपू वाउगा | आहेसि तू अंगा | अंगी डोळे उघडीँ ॥४॥
English1. Duje khande tari, urala to awagha Hari. Aapanabaheree, na lage thaav dhundava
2. Itule jaanavaya jaana, kod tari mane manaa. Paradheechya khunaa jaantenechi sadhavya
3. Deh aadhee kaay kharaa, dehasambandha pasaaraa. Bujagavane chora, rakshanase bhasate
4. Tuka karee jaagaa, nako vasapu vaugaa. Ahesi tu anga, angee dole ughadee.
Translation
Saint Tukaram is advising us to realize that we do not have to go out to seek God. The most powerful Cosmic Consciousness is right inside us. He is telling us that in many sweet ways in this abhanga.
1. When the duality ends, only Hari remains. It is not necessary to go out to search for Him.
2. If you would like to know something, just know your own mind with your own mind. The trap laid in jungle by a hunter is known to the hunter. You should understand this.
3. This body itself is unreal. Not to talk about others related to the body (wife, children, relatives, possessions). The body and all material possessions scare a person, just like a dummy in a farm induces fear in the mind of a thief.
4. Tuka says, do not get scared. You are the super soul beyond the soul (the Paramatma, God or Brahman). Just see that, realize that, by opening your already existing, but closed internal spiritual eye.
