Tukaram Gatha Abhanga 13 - Dharmachi tu moorti

धर्माची तू मूर्ती। पाप पुण्य तुझे हाती ||१||

मज सोडवी दातारा। कर्मापासूनि दुस्तरा ||२||

करिसी अंगीकार। तरी काय माझा भार ||३||

जिवींच्या जीवना। तुका म्हणे नारायणा ||४||

Dharmachi tu moorti, paap punya tuze haatee

maj sodavee datara, karmapasuni dustaraa

karisee angikar, tari kay maza bhaar

jiveenchya jeevana, Tuka mhane Narayanaa

Translation

Saint Tukaram us making an earnest appeal to God to make him free from the effects of all his past karmas, both, virtuous and bad karmas.

1. God, You are in fact an idol of dharma (religion or in this case, religious behavior).
2. Hence, oh Donor! Set me free from all my past karmas.
3. In case you accept me, will i be really a burden on You?
4. Oh Lord Narayana! You are the Life within all the living beings!
