गेली वीरसरी । मग त्यासि रांड मारी ।।१।।

मग नये तैसी सत्ता । गेली मागील आणितां ।।२।।

भंगलिया चित्ता । न ये काशानें सांधितां ।।३।।

तुका म्हणे धीर । भंगलिया पाठीं कीर ।।४।।

 English Script

1. Gelee veersaree, mag tyasi raand maree

2. Mag naye taisee satta, gelee mageel aanita

3. Bhangaliyaa chitta, na ye kaashaane sandhitaa

4. Tukaa mhane dheer, bhangaliyaa pathee keer.

 Translation

In this Abhang Saint Tukaram is cautioning people to maintain and preserve their valor (power to win in a battle). Because, if that is gone, then it can never come back to the original level.

 1. Once a person's valor or the vitality to achieve great victories vanishes, then even a weak woman, such as a whore, can kill him.

2. Having lost his valor and power once, it cannot be brought back to the state it was before.

3. If a man's heart is broken by a friend, then the damage cannot be repaired forever.

4. Tuka says, if a man loses his courage, his condition becomes too pitiable, even beyond sympathy.
