2. Aise uapharaate varm, dharma angeech adharma
3. Dev antare te paap, Khote ugava sankalp
4. Tuka mhane bheed khotee, laabh vicharache potee.
Saint Tukaram is explaining a very complicated
point, about which karmas one may perform and how. A man does so many
activities during the whole day and during his whole life. By performance of
these activities, he is sowing seeds from which fruits will be born sometime in
future, or rather, the consequences of these actions will take place at the
right time in future. Some activities can be classified as 'renunciation' and
some can be termed 'indulgence'. Generally it is believed that a religious
person should practice total renunciation and stay away from indulgence. But,
according to Saint Tukaram, the key
point, which must be taken into account, is whether an activity is done with a
good, clear and devotional consciousness or not.
2. This is the secret of dharma. It is indeed
paradoxical. While doing a religious, virtuous act, one may actually performing
an unjust, sinful act. And vice versa.
3. Just remember that, that act which takes you
away from God, is a sin. So, examine the true intention behind your act.
Examine the merits and demerits of your action before performing it.
4. Tuka says, it is wrong to shy away from
examining the merits and demerits of an action and engaging in its performance.
It is beneficial to use rational thinking and overcome such shyness.
