 Translation

In this abhanga, Saint Tukaram is telling the devotees that God is very very kind. He narrates many old stories of God's grace. He also gives a very cute observation cum message at the end.

 1. The religious scriptures - puranas, are telling us that God is indebted to His true devotees. Oh God, show us, for sure, that this is true!

2. We have heard the incident of Saint Kabir, who was taking the cloth woven by him, to the market for selling. He saw poor people on the way and through compassion; he gave away the cloth to them.

3. On returning home, Kabir found that God had brought money to his home to pay for that cloth!

Kabir, too, didn't keep that money for himself. He gave it away (in donations).

4. Saint Namdev also did a similar thing. You brought the money to pay for the cloth, to his house also. However, he too, gave away that money in donations to Brahmins.

5. Is there any need to site more examples of Your kindness to Your true devotees? You also made Saint Eknath free from debt, by personally repaying his debt!

6. In another instance, Saint Bhanudas had used his grain, stored as seed for planting in his farm, to serve food to some saints, who had come to his house as guests. He ground that seed and made the flour, because there was no other food in his house! So, Lord Narayana personally went to his farm and sowed another seed in the field.

7. Tuka says, God does so much for His true devotees. However, those who don't have this kind of faith in God get trapped in the human body form and continue to face harassment for many births.
