Translation
In this Abhang Saint Tukaram is describing a person
who is devoid of good qualities. He is neither compassionate nor religious.
1. His hand trembles if he donates anything. He
doesn't even like the subject of donation.
2. He is always talking nonsense. His words are as
useless as the milk in which asafetida has been added (asafetida is a cooking
ingredient with a very strong pungent odor. If added in milk, it will spoil the
milk and impart its very bad odor to it).
3. His feet are never drawn to a pilgrimage. He
says, I have no money to spend there.
4. Tuka says, if something is not in a person's
mind, it will never come into actual practice.
