आशा हे समूळ खाणोनि काढावी । तेव्हांचि गोसावी व्हावें तेणें ॥१॥
नाहीं तरी सुखें असावें संसारीं । फजिती दुसरी करूं नये ॥२॥
आशा मारूनिया जयवंत व्हावें । तेव्हांचि निघावें सर्वांतूनि ॥३॥
तुका म्हणे जरीं योगाची तांतडी । आशेची बीबुडी करीं आधीं ॥४॥

1. Aashaa he samool khaanoni kaadhaavee, tenvaachi gosaavee vhaave tene
2. Naahee taree sukhe asaave sansaaree, fajitee dusaree karoo naye
3. Aasha maarooniya jayawant vhaave, tenvhaachi nighaave sarvaatooni
4. Tuka mhane jaree yogaachee taantadee, aashechee beebudee karee aadhee.

Translation
1. When the hope for worldly life is completely uprooted, only then does that seeker become the master of Ashtanga Yoga.
2. Otherwise, one should happily remain in worldly life. In worldly life, there is already the misery of birth and death. One should not invite another misery of failing in spirituality.
3. Conquer hope and become victorious, only then only you will be able to step out of all attachments.
4. Tuka says, if you are in a hurry to practice Yoga, then conquer this enemy ‘hope’ – make it fruitless.
