Translation
1. Everywhere you look, the market of worldly life is
bustling. In this market, people are constantly busy performing all kinds of
actions. To enter this market, one must follow the path laid by past actions
(karma). Once done with their business, people again disperse along the same
path of accumulated karma.
2. All
over the place, goods of pleasure and enjoyment are displayed. The cost of
these goods is paid through the three types of karmas (Sattvik, Rajas
and Tamasik). One must act (do karma) to buy and enjoy these pleasures.
This entire market is overseen by Lord Vitthal, who is beyond all thought and
desire. Yet silently, He watches over everything.
3. It is
this very God who has set up this worldly market. He alone decides the rewards
and punishments for virtues and sins - based on one’s actions. In this world,
each person acts according to his own will, and through his actions, he earns
either sin or merit.
4. Tuka
says, all people in this world are dragged into the prison of birth and death
because of the debts of their sins and merits. Thus, they become helpless and
bound. But if they call upon God with devotion, their chains will break, and
they will be freed.
